Carmel Man Charged With DWI While Driving Wrong Way Upstate

CHATHAM, N.Y. – A Carmel man was charged with DWI after state police pulled him over for driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 early Monday morning, reports the New York State Police.

Brendan A. Griffith, 25, was driving a Toyota Camry east in the westbound lanes on I-90 between exits B1 and B2 of the Berkshire Spur about 2:52 a.m. Police pulled Griffith over before any incidents occurred, according to the report.

Griffith was found to be intoxicated and processed at state police barracks in Albany, where police determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.23 percent, police said. He also has an active arrest warrant out of Massachusetts, according to officials.

He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and fugitive from justice. Griffith was arraigned before the Chatham Town Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond, according to the report.
