In June, Unity Bank in Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, initiated an internal investigation into payroll fee transactions involving Franklin Township, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said.
During the course of the investigation, the bank identified an alleged double-billing scheme and reported its findings to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Robeson said.
Cameron Keng, who was the town's chief financial officer, is charged with theft by deception, authorities said.
