Bantam 8

Frisco Roughriders 14, Bakersfield Blaze 8

In their first match-up of the season, the Hoyt Livery Bakerfield Blaze fell to the Karl Chevrolet Frisco Roughriders 8-14.

The Roughriders were led offensively by the middle of the lineup of Wally Brown, Colin Byrne, Chis Talamo and Brandon Kekedjian who all had four hits.

Defensive stalwarts for the Roughriders were Jake Barna who snagged two flyballs, and Andrew Rashad who made five putouts from the infield.

For the Blaze, the defense was led by Charles Brossy who at short stop made two stong put-outs to first and an unassisted double play off a caught line drive.  Maddox Underwood made an outstanding play at first base, stabbing a hot line-drive that knocked his glove off but having the presence of mind to pick up the ball for the out at first.

The offense was paced by Sam Gardiner at lead-off, backed up by Jackson La Susa and Griffin Deane.  A bottom of the sixth rally attempt was led by an RBI from Jack Craig and double by Will Galvan.

Bantam 7

Toledo Mud Hens 9, Akron Aeros 8

Benedikt Schumacher's bat was blazing in the first inning as the Huchinson Tree Care Mud Hens jumped to an early lead of the final match against Camsan Electric Areos. Chris Luchette's unstoppable triple into the gap continued the 3-0 lead in the second inning. Charlie Young's clutch base hit in the fourth inning was the offense, finishing the day with two RBIs.

Max Busby rifled a hard grounder to Mud Hens pitcher Ryan Werneburg in the second inning. Despite an injury to the face, Ryan held Areos from scoring.

Peter Bennington's first inning leadership as catcher became contagious for the Aeros; Nicholas Deligtisch excelled at third base, fielding two plays in a row. The double play from second baseman Alex Ainsworth to first basemen Andrew Rechtermann held the Mud Hens scoreless in the third inning. Jack Harrison was flawless on defensive for the Areos.

The Areos bat's roared in the fourth inning led by Trey Kollitedes, Mac Busby and Tyler Dusek along with Michael Sanseverino's back-to-back inning singles with players in scoring position. The shot heard by all from Vin Cognetta's homerun in the last inning wasn't enough to take the lead.

The Mud Hens defense stopped the Aeros in the later innings with the combination of Sully Franz, Tyler Morse and Jackson Slazyk.

Bantam 6

Buffalo Bisons  9, New Orleans Zephyrs 9

Led by the timely hitting of Ryland Strine, Max Budnick and Marco DeRubeis, the Walter Stewart's Market New Orleans Zephyrs battled to a tough 9-9 tie versus the New Canaan Police Buffalo Bisons.  Scott Fitzgibbon and Daniel Rogers turned in sparkling defensive plays for the Zephyrs as they overcame an early deficit to tie the game.
