For anyone who has noticed school buses throughout Wilton recently, school did not start a week early. The bus drivers are doing practice runs in preparation for the start of the school year on Aug. 30.
Mary Channing, transportation coordinator for the Board of Education, told the drivers to go through these runs so they become familiar with their routes and any minor changes. Channing said these practice runs help things go more smoothly because the drivers know what to expect.
Though all of the drivers go through their routes before the start of the school year, any drivers with new routes or who are new to Wilton must drive around with Channing.
"They have to pass the 'Mary Test' before they go out on their own," Channing said.
