HARRISON, N.Y. The Harrison pitching staff was as it again, this time in a Section 1 Class A Baseball Championship semifinal on Tuesday.
Right-hander Max Bruckner tossed a four-hitter and struck out six as the second-seeded Huskies silenced third-seeded John F. Kennedy Catholic, 8-0.
The Huskies will play No. 9 Byram Hills in the title game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Dutchess Stadium.
Harrison last reached the title game in 2010 and last won the Section 1 title in 2001, led by left-hander Matt Miller and current Harrison assistant coach Jay Ciraco. Harrison also won sectional championships in 1992 and '94 under legendary former Harrison coach, Mike Belmont.
In the last three sectional games, Harrison pitchers have allowed only two runs. Bruckner defeated Nanuet, 5-1, in the first round, and Michael Forgione held Somers to three hits in a 3-1 quarterfinal win.
"Max did a phenomenal job of mixing up his pitches," Harrison coach Marco DiRuocco said. "He kept their hitters guessing the whole game. He was around the plate the whole game. He only had one walk."
