On the winter calendar, the department lists a free community skate for Brookfield residents at Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday, Feb. 28, running 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with registration required.

Two egg hunts are also on the schedule: a flashlight hunt for Brookfield students in grades 3-5 on Friday, March 27, at Kids Kingdom Playground with a 7:45 p.m. start, and the annual egg hunt on the Town Hall grounds on Saturday, March 28, for students in grades 4 and below, according to Brookfield’s program guide.

For teens, Rec Basketball for grades 6-12 is slated for Saturdays from Jan. 3 through Feb. 28 at Brookfield High School, with the first two weeks used for evaluations and sessions built around a short practice followed by a game.

Coding offerings in the guide include after-school “Python Basics” (Tuesdays, Jan. 20-March 17) and “JAVA Explorers” (Thursdays, Jan. 22-March 19), plus CLES programs such as “Minecraft Builders” and “Game Creation & Coding.”

Other highlights in the guide include:

  • Adult fitness classes
  • Adaptive programs
  • “Get Out of Town!” section
  • Summer 2026 preview
