In addition to residents complaining about the tax increase, members of the fire department are upset regarding a $150,000 proposed cut to the department's budget, reported the News-Times. First Selectman Steve Dunn, told the News-Times he felt the meeting "got a little out of hand," according to the News-Times.
Some items included in the budget driving the increase include a 2.2 percent increase in education spending, which includes hiring several new positions, and the Board of Selectman budget, which also includes two new positions, a purchasing agent and a community development specialist, added the News-Times.
