The Parkway will be closed to traffic between Harney Road, exit 10, and Crane Road, exit 12 to conduct subsurface investigations for the west abutment of a new bridge, which is part of the Crane Road Bridge Replacement project on the BPR.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to Harney Road eastbound to Scarsdale Avenue northbound to East Parkway northbound and then back onto the BPR at Crane Raod. There will be signs indicating where to go. Delays are expected and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
The $39.4 million, four-phase project is estimated to be finished by spring of 2015. The new bridge will feature wider lanes and shoulders, including a northbound deceleration lane to Crane Road. Sidewalks will be added and the southbound Metro-North platform will be completely reconstructed. A portion of the Scarsdale Merchant Parking Lot has been partitioned as a staging area for equipment.
