Branch issued the recall for about 16,000 of its Ergonomic Chairs, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, Sept. 3. About 180 additional chairs were sold in Canada.
The recall applies to height-adjustable chairs with backrest anchors that were installed incorrectly during manufacturing. The affected chairs were made between Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, and Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Branch, which is based in New York City, has received 11 reports of backrests detaching from the chairs. No injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC.
The recalled chairs were sold in several color and base combinations, including black, pebble, sand, graphite, light blue, poppy, and Baltic blue. The manufacture date can be found on a label underneath the chair's seat cushion.
The chairs were sold online through websites like Amazon, Branch, Office Depot, The Container Store, and West Elm. They were available from approximately December 2025 through July 2026 for between $320 and $350.
Customers are urged to stop using the recalled chairs immediately and contact Branch for a free repair kit. The kit includes a replacement backrest, installation instructions, three bolts, and an Allen key.
Customers will be given instructions on how to determine whether their backrest is included in the recall. They will also be asked to submit photos of the manufacture label and the removed backrest to receive a repair kit.
