He is a third-grader at Dutchess BOCES, his mother told the Journal.

The boy's family lives in Poughkeepsie where the city school district arranges the BOCES bus, according to the report.

The mother reportedly contacted the driver past 4 p.m., and the driver phoned her back, she told the Poughkeepsie Journal.

He reportedly told the mother that a bus matron saw the boy asleep before she was dropped off and that she believed the driver "would take care of" him last, the report said.

School board President Ralph Coates told the Journal that the boy spent only "several minutes" on the bus and that the matter was being investigated.
