The child, who was from Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest at 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, the coroner's office said.
An autopsy completed Thursday determined the boy died from complications of drowning, and Coroner Daniel A. Buglio ruled the manner of death an accident, the coroner's office said.
The drowning happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, in the pool at the Days Inn by Wyndham on Hill Motor Lodge Road in Pocono Township, according to the coroner's office.
The boy was rescued from the pool, and life-saving measures were started by bystanders and emergency responders before he was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, the coroner's office said.
Because of the child's age and out of respect for his family's privacy, officials said his identity will not be released.
The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Lehigh County Coroner's Office in cooperation with Pocono Township Police and the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, according to the coroner's office.
