A teenager in Virginia did all he could to avoid his arrest after stealing from an area Wawa, but a police K9 was both smarter and quicker.
Bishop Jackson, 19, is facing multiple charges following a reported theft on Monday, June 1, at the Wawa in Breezewood, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.
Deputies flooded the area, and Jackson was spotted fleeing on foot and jumping a fence in an attempt to elude law enforcement.
Then, K9 Buck entered the chat.
The quick-thinking dog responded to assist and tracked Jackson through the woods and several yards before finding him hiding under a bed in a vacant home on Breezewood Drive.
Deputies contacted the property owner, who granted permission to search the residence, where they found Jackson's hiding spot under a bed.
The Spotsylvania resident was arrested without further incident, and is now charged with:
- Credit card fraud;
- Credit card theft;
- Petit larceny;
- Obstruction of justice;
- Trespassing;
- Unlawful entry.
Jackson also had a warrant out for his arrest in Stafford County. He is now being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
"This arrest was made possible through the quick collaboration between the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and Wawa, along with the teamwork and professionalism displayed by the deputies and K9 Buck," officials said in a statement following the arrest. "The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office remains committed to providing the citizens of Spotsylvania County with the highest level of service through professionalism and dedication."
