YONKERS, N.Y.-- Bernard C. Mistal, 68, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Dec. 24, after a long illness.
Born to the late Matthew and Caroline Mistal, he was educated locally and graduated from Gorton High School before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. After leaving the Coast Guard, Mistal worked as a supervisor with the NY Thruway Authority.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Mistal; son, Matthew (Andrea) Mistal; brother Robert (Gemma) Mistal; Paula (Michael) Petryssyn; brother-in-law Henry (Cindy) Kielkucki; Caryl (Phil) Labarbejra; grandchildren Serafina and Gabriel Mistal; and nieces and nephews Joseph, Bernadette, Megan and James.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the Yonkers Funeral Service, 107 Yonkers Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, in St. Bartholomew's Church. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson.
