Berlin Brewing, which opened in 2014, announced it is shutting down owners Eddie and Michele Secrest announced in a lengthy post on Facebook.
"It is with very heavy hearts, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Berlin Brewing," the Secrest's wrote. "To everyone who walked through our doors, sat at our bar, drank our beer, came to an event, brought friends, supported us, or simply made our taproom part of your life: thank you.
The Secrest's thanked many people in their post, including its regular customers.
"Especially those who became some of our dearest friends, you were the heart of this place," the Secrest's wrote. "To every band and musician who played our taproom, thank you for so many great times. We’re especially proud that Berlin Brewing became a starting place for a few bands along the way. Watching you grow your audience and go on to bigger things was pretty damn cool."
Eddie and Michele saved their final thank you to their family.
"You helped us from the day we decided to jump in this wonderful adventure," the Secrest's wrote. "You were there from the beginning and helped us keep her going. You worked, painted, cleaned, repaired, jumped in whenever we needed you, celebrated with us, worried with us, and stood beside us through all of it. Berlin Brewing was truly a family business, and none of it would have been possible without you. We love you more than we could ever put into words.
The Secrest's called running the brewery an honor of a lifetime.
"We’re not quite ready to call this goodbye," the Secrest's wrote. "We don’t know what comes next, but we do know there’s still some Berlin Brewing left in us."
The Jims, a band that played Berlin Brewing, expressed their shock and sadness to the news.
"Playing Berlin Brewing Company was easily some of the most fun we've had," The Jims wrote. "Thanks so much for being one of the first places to book us and for your unwavering support. You will be sorely missed, but we're excited to hear about your next chapter."
