"Waste NOT!," the school's new composting initiative, is paid for in part by a $10,000 grant from Sustainable Jersey for Schools, The Record reported.

The school's green technology program and instructor Alyssa Bania will administer the composting, said The Record.

Bergenfield's commitment to sustainability also includes a rain garden and solar panels, The Record reported.

Thirty-four public schools in the state received a grant from Sustainable Jersey, said The Record.
