BEDFORDAt the Bedford Central School Districts annual organizational meeting on Thursday, school lunch prices were discussed and determined to remain the same for another school year.
We wanted to try and keep it down this year given the economy, said Mark Betz, assistant superintendent for Business and Administrative Services. But next year were probably going to have to raise it.
For the 2011-12 school year, the Student Meal Pattern Lunch for the elementary school will remain at $2, and the middle school and high school will remain at $3. Adult lunches for the elementary school will be $3.25 plus tax. The middle school and high school will remain at $3.75 plus tax. Student breakfasts will be kept at $1.50 and reduced meals will continue at $0.25 throughout the schools.
Betz said school lunch prices have not risen in two or three years, but will likely increase next year to meet New York State standards.
They want school districts price for lunch to at least equal that which is a reimbursement of the amount that they give the district, he said. Our prices of two and three dollars average to that but going forward we're probably going have to raise our elementary price.
Unlike lunch prices, the uses of facilities fees are increasing this year. At Fox Lane High School, the use of the cafeteria will now be $18 per hour, the gymnasium $20 per hour, a classroom at $12 per hour, the commons at $18 per hour and the theater at $125 per hour, with a minimum of three hours.
