CEO Marcus Lemonis revealed the purchase in a letter to shareholders on Thursday, April 2. The deal is valued at about $150 million, Retail Dive reported.

Bed Bath & Beyond will also acquire two storage brands: Closet Works, which has its headquarters near Chicago, and Sweden-based Elfa.

"We have been disciplined in how we approach transactions, and we believe the acquisitions we have completed to date validate our approach," Lemonis wrote. "Each has been structured to be accretive, operationally actionable, and aligned with our long-term strategy."

Bed Bath & Beyond is returning to physical retail after filing for bankruptcy in April 2023 and closing its final stores that summer. The brick-and-mortar revival began in August 2025 with a Nashville-area store called "Bed Bath & Beyond Home," while Lemonis has said Bed Bath & Beyond could have up to 300 new and rebranded locations by the end of 2026.

The Container Store operates more than 100 locations, which will stay open and are expected to remain open and be rebranded as "The Container Store / Bed Bath and Beyond." The stores will expand beyond storage and organization, adding bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and other home products.

Bed Bath & Beyond previously tried to invest $40 million for a 40% stake in The Container Store in 2024, but that effort stalled. The Container Store filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and emerged after restructuring in early 2025.

The Container Store will join Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock.com, buybuybaby.com, and Kirkland's as part of the company's retail division.

"The strategy is set," Lemonis said. "Now it is about execution. Integrating these businesses, unlocking their full potential, and delivering measurable results. We are confident in our strategy, our team, and the long-term value we are building."

The deal is expected to close in July.
