Bcsd Gets High Ranking for External Audit

BEDFORD, N.Y--The Bedford Central School District announced that the financial audit of its 2010-2011 fiscal year received an “unqualified opinion,” which is the highest ranking an audit can receive.

R.S Abrams LLP conducted the audit. The firm is the external auditor of the school district. The internal auditors are those from Accume, which also handed in their yearly audit, which was accepted by the district.

Under New York State Law, all school districts must accept an audit independent from their internal one, conducted by a public accounting firm, said Carole LaColla, the Bedford Centrat School District Clerk.

The school district was happy to comply, said Mark Betz, the assistant superintendent for business and administrative services. Betz noted “having an additional layer of oversight is valuable to us and can only improve our operations and better serve our community.”
