Barbara Yelin, Former Nurse

STAMFORD, Conn. — Barbara Joan Yelin, 80, died on Dec. 22. She was born in Stamford Hospital on Nov. 30, 1931.

After graduating from Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, Yelin became a nurse at hospitals in Red Bank, N.J., and St. Joseph’s and Stamford hospitals in Stamford. After retiring from nursing, she worked with her husband at the family business, Hay Photographers.

Yelin is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arnold Yelin; daughter Bonnie Yelin Gibel and her husband, Maurice; sons Scott Yelin, and his wife, Sompong, Craig Yelin and his wife, Tamara, and Robert Yelin; and five grandchildren.

A service will be held on Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home with followed by interment at Independent Lodge Cemetery in Darien. The family will sit shiva at its home in Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Yelin’s name are made to a charity.
