NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Luke Nascimento was one of ten students selected to attend Davis Elementary Schools annual Authors Lunch with this years guest speaker James Preller. Nascimento was thrilled, along the rest of the Davis student body, to visit with an actual author of a book they have read.
I like asking him questions like what the first book youve ever written was, he said. Daviss annual Authors Week is sponsored by the schools Parent Teacher Association and organized in conjunction with reading specialists Patricia Confalone, Jane Hadl and school librarian Lauren Sinacore.
The staff members work with the teachers and students to familiarize everyone with authors who visit the school each year, and the books they have written. Its a collaborative effort, said Davis PTA Authors Week Committee Co-Chair Wendy Gandola.
Preller is the author of over eighty books including the Jigsaw Jones series, A Pirates Guide to First Grade, Mighty Casey, Along Came a Spider, Justin Fisher Declares War, Six Innings, and his newest titled Bystander.
The author visited with, ate, and signed books for kindergarten through second grade students Thursday, finishing off the with third through fifth graders Friday.
