Author Advises Moms on the Run

Everyone knows it can be hard to stay in shape while raising a family. So why not take some advice from someone who literally wrote the book on it? Sarah Bowen Shea, co-author of "Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving and Not Lose Your Job, Family or Sanity," is coming to New Canaan Wednesday to share her expertise.

Shea will start by teaching through example. She will lead a group on a three-mile fun run starting at 6:30 p.m. at the New Balance store at 128 Main Street. When the pack returns to the store, there will be cold Gatorade waiting, which should prove necessary given the hot and humid forecast. Shea will then head to the New Canaan Library for a chat and book-signing. The program is free, but you can reserve a spot by calling (203) 594-5000.

In addition to the book, Shea and her writing partner, Dimity McDowell, also write a blog called "Run Like a Mother," designed to reach maternal running fans. Shea is currently touring the country, running 5Ks to promote her book. This week she also make stops in Greenwich (Tuesday at Lululemon Athletica) and Redding (Friday, starting at Georgetown Auto Body.)
