Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Gloucester counties were declared primary counties eligible after suffering a drought of eight or more weeks last year, the USDA said. Burlington, Camden, Ocean and Salem counties were declared contiguous disaster areas.
The natural disaster designation allows the USDA Farm Service Agency to extend emergency credit to producers through emergency loans, the USDA said in a release. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts, the USA said.
The FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability, the USDA said. The deadline to apply is December 8, 2025.
