Asher Childress is continuing to heal after the crash that led to an ambulance ride, a stay at York Hospital, and a Life Lion helicopter transfer to Hershey Children’s Hospital, where he spent multiple days in the ICU, according to a GoFundMe verified on Monday, Jan. 26.

Asher “has lost function of the top half of his right kidney,” and also suffered additional internal concerns involving his liver and spleen, his aunt, Rebecca Shehan, wrote in the fundraiser.

Shehan said Asher also needed stitches in his lip and is expected to require dental care once he returns home.

Asher is currently being treated in a pediatric surgery unit and has been making strong progress, his family shared. They are still praying his fever breaks permanently and that no infections develop, the fundraiser says.

The GoFundMe was created to help Asher’s parents, Michael and Tiffany Childress, cover medical bills, missed wages, dental care, and recovery-related expenses. The family has not received final billing information yet, Shehan said.

The fundraiser’s goal is $11,000. Click here to donate.
