Just when you thought old man winter was taking a siesta, he threatens our peace once again this time with ice.
The National Weather Service is reporting that snow is likely to begin falling after 3 a.m. Tuesday. Then freezing rain will come at 9 a.m., followed by rain and snow in the afternoon and more freezing rain during the night.
The ice poses a particular concern for drivers, because road conditions could become increasingly hazardous as the storm progresses. The added weight of ice could also threaten the integrity of roofs and other structures, William Hackett, state director of emergency management, said in a letter to town officials.
Residents are advised to look for cracked walls and roof leaks, as this could be an early indication of structural failure. Contact Easton's building department official E.
