The magnitude 1.8 earthquake hit about 5 kilometers west of Gladstone at 1:30 p.m., according to USGS data.

The quake occurred at a depth of about 5 kilometers or 3.1 miles.

USGS “Did You Feel It?” reports showed light shaking was felt across parts of North and Central New Jersey, with the strongest reports coming from Chester, Califon, and Bedminster. There, residents reported weak shaking consistent with Modified Mercalli Intensity level III. Additional lighter shaking was reported in Long Valley, Lebanon, Bernardsville, Glen Gardner, Maplewood, New York City, and Warminster, PA.
