The Route 36 pizzeria will close at the end of the month after four years of business, owners Melanie and Anthony Fabbri said in a Facebook reel last week.
A GoFundMe for the couple by Robert Frazzetto that had raised nearly $7,000 cited financial strain and rising costs, noting that the couple did everything they could to keep doors open.
“It wasn’t a failure of effort or commitment,” the fundraiser states. “It was a reality check brought on by rising costs, financial strain, and years of operating in survival mode.”
Now transitioning out of the business, the Fabbris are facing a financial gap while working to stabilize their family and plan their next steps, according to the fundraiser.
“This fundraiser is not about handouts—it’s about helping good people catch their breath after years of giving everything they had,” the fundraiser reads.
Community support has poured in from local organizations, including FC Monmouth, which publicly thanked the pizzeria on Facebook.
“Pizza is a lot more than a meal, it’s something that leads to memories, laughs, and for us always a smile for our players after a match,” FC Monmouth wrote. “Win, lose, or draw it is something that brings us together no matter what, as friends.”
Melanie Fabbri said she and Anthony treated the business like another child: "It's really sad to see it go," she said.
