American Legion Baseball Begins Play

The Darien/New Canaan Senior American Legion baseball team began its season Monday topping Fairfield, 7-6, on a walk-off single by Ben Hall that scored Mike Stovall. Darien/NC fought back from a 6-2 deficit with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Thomas Carruthers and Hall both had two hits and two runs scored. Ricky Miller exuded confidence on the mound in three innings of shutout relief to earn the victory. Darien/NC turned a triple play in the sixth on a sliding snag by center fielder Tommy Farren.
