The company is investing heavily in artificial intelligence, expanding its delivery network, and planning new features for shoppers and viewers.

One of the most notable ongoing trends is Amazon’s increasing use of AI across its operations.

In a recent Amazon blog post, the company detailed how artificial intelligence is driving its retail, cloud, and entertainment platforms. Amazon has already introduced generative AI features for product listings and is building new tools for sellers and customers.

For shoppers, Amazon’s focus on AI-powered product search and recommendations is expected to grow. The company recently launched Rufus, an AI shopping assistant that helps customers find products and get advice, as described in TechCrunch.

Amazon’s delivery network is also expanding, with a focus on faster shipping and reaching more rural customers. Amazon says it is investing billions in warehouse automation and rural delivery to shorten delivery windows and serve new regions.

Prime Video is also evolving, with the rollout of new ad-supported tiers and interactive advertising.  Amazon introduced ads to Prime Video in early 2024, with more targeted and interactive formats expected as the platform aims to compete with other streaming giants.

For sellers, Amazon’s ongoing updates to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) include rule changes and new fees. As outlined in Amazon Seller Central, FBA guidance is updated regularly, and sellers are expected to comply with new prep, labeling, and shipping requirements.

Amazon is also building out its physical retail footprint and experimenting with autonomous delivery vehicles, as CNBC reported, including new drone delivery expansions.

These changes are part of Amazon’s plan to boost efficiency, grow revenue, and stay ahead in a competitive market. Both sellers and customers can expect a more technology-driven experience, but sellers may face new compliance challenges as the company updates its rules and fee structures.
