Jalen Andre Simon, 19, of Accokeek, was released from the Charles County Detention Center on electronic monitoring on Friday, Oct. 9, one day after his arrest in connection with three reported incidents dating back to July.
The investigation began over the summer, when a woman reported being groped while shopping at a business in Waldorf, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.
It wasn't the last complaint.
Two more incidents involving alleged groping and assault were reported in September, prompting detectives to investigate what authorities now say were three cases involving the same suspect.
Investigators ultimately identified Simon as the suspect and, with assistance from Prince George's County Police, executed a search warrant at his Accokeek home.
He was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 8.
But Simon's stay behind bars was brief.
The following day, a court ordered that he could be released from custody under electronic monitoring, according to the sheriff's office.
Simon was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.
The investigation remains active, and detectives are looking into whether there may be additional victims.
Anyone who believes they may have been targeted or has information about the incidents is asked to contact Detective Bagwell at 301-609-6501.
