5.8 Earthquake Felt in Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- A reported 5.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the northeast Tuesday afternoon with tremors felt as far as New York. Residents in Rye reported feeling the shake.

The Rye Police Department said they received dozens of calls in the early minutes after the quake, but did not report any injuries or serious damage -- all was clear as of 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The earthquake's epicenter was reported to be in Virginia with its effects felt through Washington D.C. and southern New York, including Long Island.
