Southern Telecom issued the recall for about 48,700 Brookstone-branded Tabletop Fire Pits, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, Aug. 13. The fire pits can cause uncontrolled pool fires and flames jetting from fuel containers, creating a risk of serious or deadly burns.
Brooklyn, New York-based Southern Telecom has received two reports of flame jetting and flames escaping from the concrete container. Two people suffered second- and third-degree burns, according to the CPSC.
The indoor/outdoor fire pits have round or hexagonal concrete open reservoirs designed to hold burning liquid alcohol. The model number is located on the bottom of the product packaging.
The fire pits were sold at Macy's, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Indoff, iBuy, and Newton Buying Corp. stores nationwide, as well as online at Macys.com and other websites. They were available for between $20 and $25 from February 2023 through December 2024.
Owners should immediately stop using the recalled fire pits and contact Southern Telecom for a full refund. Consumers can email a photo of the fire pit with "Recalled," their name, and the date written on it in permanent marker to [email protected] before disposing of the product.
