The Yonkers Fire Department said just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, it was called to a large fire in southwest Yonkers, in the School Street neighborhood.
Fire officials said the incident involved multiple structures and remained active and evolving as crews worked the scene.
The fire was reported in the area of 160 School St., and officials later confirmed the blaze had escalated to a fourth alarm, prompting mutual aid from neighboring fire departments to assist Yonkers crews.
Scanner reports indicated there may have been a partial building collapse, though fire officials have not confirmed that information.
Residents are urged to avoid the area while emergency crews continue operations.
