2 Charged In Freehold Library Shooting: Prosecutor

Two individuals have been charged in a shooting at the Freehold library last week, authorities said Tuesday, May 5.

At 4:21 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, police responded to the area of the Freehold Borough Public Library for a report of gunshots, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond  Santiago said. Officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, who was taken to a local hospital and is now in stable condition, Santiago said.

Kanye Faucette, a 19-year-old Keansburg was identified as the shooter following an investigation, Santiago said. Heaven Holmes, a 20-year-old Keyport resident is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Santiago said.

Faucette was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, and charged with  attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Santiago said.

Faucette and Holmes are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending court proceedings, prosecutors said.
