Stoney Games issued the recall for about 151,600 Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Games, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, March 12. The games violate federal regulations because they contain loose, high-powered magnets that are smaller than permitted.
When the powerful magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other and become stuck in a person's digestive tract.
"This can result in perforations, twisting, and/or blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning, and death," the CPSC said.
The recalled games include about 24 small magnets measuring roughly half an inch to one inch wide and about 0.3 to 0.4 inches high. Sets also include an orange string, an instruction manual, and a black storage pouch with "Kluster" printed on the front.
The magnets were sold in a black box labeled "Kluster" and were also available in a white pouch with gameplay instructions printed on the back. No incidents or injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC.
Customers are urged to stop using the recalled games immediately and keep them away from children. Owners should contact Stoney Games for instructions on how to dispose of the recalled magnets and receive replacement magnets that are not small parts.
The games were sold at independent game shops nationwide and online through Amazon, Etsy, and Klustermagnets.com. They were available from October 2018 through September 2025 for between $15 and $20.
