A 49-year-old former Newark resident was convicted on Wednesday, June 12, in a 2009 Newark homicide after he spent 11 years on the run, authorities said. At 1:22 p.m., the Essex County Sherriff's Office responded to South Mountain Reservation after a woman and her young daughter were trapped by bear in Locust Grove and could not exit, authorities said.
