A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced for killing a 29-year-old man and injuring a 5-year-old boy.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced Wednesday, July 26, that Lamont Williams, age 29, of Newburgh, was sentenced to 25 years in prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision.

A Hudson Valley woman was seriously injured following a crash with a tractor-trailer.
The crash took place in Orange County around 11:15 a.m., Thursday, June 1 in the town of Newburgh.
According to Lt, Peter Talarico, of the town of Newburgh Police, officers on the scene found an accident involving a 2008 Infinity and a 2002 tractor-trailer.

Two men have pleaded guilty to taking part in a burglary of an area motor-sports store that eventually led to the death of an occupant in their get-away van.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Monday, Oct. 18, that Luis Colon, age 27, and Jose Tavera, age 18, both of New Jersey, pleaded guilty to charges related to the burglary of a Town of Newburgh motor-sports store, in Orange County, where an occupant of the van that they were in which was transporting the stolen motorbikes and ATVs crashed, killing one occupant.

A Hudson Valley man was arrested on drug charges after receiving complaints from residents and business owners into his dealings, authorities said.
Orange County resident Hardy Williams Jr., age 77, of the City of Newburgh, was arrested on a warrant on Friday, June 11, following a search of his home.
According to the City of Newburgh Police, the department, along with members of the state police executed a no-knock search warrant at the Fogarty Apartments, following a month-long investigation that began as a result of numerous complaints from residents and business owners.

An ex-convict wanted for missing mandated sessions with his parole officer was apprehended by police after they recovered a backpack he tossed aside, filled with an illegal firearm and "large quantity" of narcotics, while he was pursued by law enforcement, police said.
Police said a City of Newburgh detective allegedly spotted Alberto Rivera, of Newburgh, 25, who the detective knew was wanted by authorities, riding a bicycle on Broadway on Friday, Oct. 1 at approximately 1:25 p.m.
