Inmate Released Day Before She Died, Lancaster Officials Say
A Lancaster County Prison inmate who was rushed to the hospital and released for end-of-life care has died; officials announced her passing on Monday, April 22, 2024.
Deborah F. McClucas, 60 of Willow Street, was found unresponsive in her prison cell at approximately 8:24 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, according to a release by Lancaster County Officials.
After the prison staff called 911, city firefighters and EMS took her to Lancaster General Health Penn Medicine.

Hotboxing Teen Drives Car On PA Highway With Stoned Woman Police Say
A woman and a teenager hotboxed, or smoked marijuana in a car, and then the unlicensed teen drove on the highway and on main streets in Wormsleyburg, police say.
The teen committed a traffic violation on the Harvey Taylor Bypass and North Front Street, Wormleysburg on Valentine's Day just after 1 a.m., according to the East Pennsboro Township police.
The 24-year-old passenger, Miranda Joy Remata of Fayetteville, had allowed the 15-year-old to smoke and then drive the vehicle, according to the police.

Convicted Killer Flees Lyndhurst Shoplifting-Turned-Robbery, Nabbed By Alert Officer
A habitual offender who once served time for aggravated manslaughter was nabbed by a Lyndhurst police officer after he assaulted a security guard who tried to stop him from shoplifting, authorities said.
Johannes Vanwageningen, 37, recently of Bloomingdale, loaded a shopping cart with merchandise, then bypassed the checkout lanes and headed out the door, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Loss prevention officers tried to stop him, but Vanwageningen pushed past one of them and ran off, leaving the packed shopping cart behind, the lieutenant said.

Clifton Patrol Officer May Have Cracked Area Car Burglary Spree
Clifton police believe they caught a man overnight who's responsible for a recent string of vehicle burglaries.
Samuel Padilla, 42, of Paterson was carrying burglary tools, as well as stolen earbuds, cellphones, LED lights, sunglasses and jewelry when Officer Michael Warnet stopped him on Warren Street around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, authorities said.
He also was carrying several knives, crack pipes and a hypodermic needle, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
