Doris Athans, 92, Former Mount Kisco Elementary School Teacher
Doris Jean (Biddle) Athans, 92, of Bradenton Beach, FL and formerly of Mount Kisco, died on April 27 at Serenity Gardens of Bradenton Assisted Living Residence.
She passed away peacefully of natural causes in the company of family and friends who loved her.
Doris was born on June 30, 1927 in the rural outskirts of Ann Arbor, MI where she spent her childhood with younger sister, Janet, and older step brothers, Wayne and Red. Support Pours In For Family Of Popular Kings Park HS Teacher Killed In Hit-Run Crash
Support is pouring in for the popular Long Island high school teacher and coach killed in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.
Michael McDermott, 37, a teacher at Kings Park High School, was jogging on the shoulder of the southbound lane of Lake Avenue, north of Oak Street in Saint James, when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Nissan sedan at 12:21 p.m. Sunday, July 14, Suffolk County Police said.
McDermott taught physical education and coached junior varsity baseball at Kings Park.
