New Update: Man Killed In Route 27 East Quogue Crash Involving Impaired Driver, Police Say

Details have been released after a fatal crash involving an allegedly impaired driver led to the hours-long closure of a stretch of Sunrise Highway.
Sunrise Highway (Route 27) was closed in East Quogue eastbound at Exit 64 for several hours Thursday morning, June 8.
New York State Police say that a preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by George Hackett, age 52, of Wading River, struck the rear of a 2010 Nissan Armada, driven by Franklin Blake, age 81, of Jamaica, Queens.

A Long Island man was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash after losing control of his truck and hitting another vehicle head-on.
It took place around 6:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 10 in Southampton, on County Road 104 near Pleasure Drive.

Long Island Trio Nabbed For Buying Alcohol For Two Children, Police Say
Three Long Island men were arrested by state police for allegedly purchasing drinks for two children under the age of 17.
Suffolk County residents Travis W. Gast, age 34, of East Quogue; Mateusz Pieta, age 22, of Baiting Hollow, and Matthew J. Murcott, age 29, of Manorville, were arrested on Tuesday, April 13, and charged with endangering the welfare of a child under 17, said New York State Police Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim.
