Woman Arrested After Striking Newark Cheerleader, Fleeing Scene: Prosecutor
A 33-year-old Newark woman was arrested on Friday, March 1, and charged after she struck a cheerleader with her vehicle and fled the scene last month, authorities said.
At 10:15 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 4., an 18-year-old Newark girl was struck by a vehicle outside Arts High School while getting off the bus after she returned from a cheerleading competition, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said.
The girl remains in critical condition, Stephens said. Mia'Jah Burton, who was driving a Kia Forte, did not stop and fled from the scene, Stephens said.

Man In Critical Condition Following Baldwin Crash
A man hit by a car while crossing a busy Long Island highway is in critical condition, according to police.
The crash happened on Thursday, March 7 in Baldwin.
Nassau County Police said that just before 9 p.m., a 70-year-old man was walking across Sunrise Highway, heading south near Harrison Avenue when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan, which was heading east.
The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, suffered serious injuries to his head and body. He was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

Four Officers Suspended After Police-Involved Dundalk Shooting (Update)
Four officers have been suspended and one person has been hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting in Dundalk, authorities said.
The officers were identified as Detectives G. Depew, 16-year veteran, R. Johnson, 33-year veteran, B. Lange, 15-year veteran and J. Trenary, 15-year veteran, WBAL reports.
Officers opened gunfire after a suspect rammed into a police cruiser with their own vehicle, Baltimore County Police said. This happened in the area of Avon Avenue and Maryland Avenue around 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, the department said on Twitter.
