Ryan Addair, the former band director at Chancellor High School in Fredericksburg and current band leader at a Henrico County High School, met with the student at two locations during their month-long relationship in March 2020, the Spotsvylvania Sheriff's Office said.

The victim gave evidence of the relationship to detectives, who were tipped off by an anonymous source, authorities said.

Henrico County police arrested Addair on Friday, May 20.

Addair left the Spotsylvania high school in June 2020. He took over as band director at Glen Allen High School in Henrico County in July of that year.

Henrico County Public Schools put Addair on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal proceedings, a spokesman for the school system told WRIC on Tuesday, May 24.

Addair is charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor. He left the Rappahannock Regional Jail on Monday after posting a $5,000 bond, the Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives are still investigating the case.
