Marvin Anton Cabrera Martinez was convicted of one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of reckless driving by speed, and one count of driving without an operator’s license last month, Commonwealth's Attorney Amy Ashworth said.

Cabrera Martinez was going 84 mph in a 35 mph zone without a license, in a Jeep SUV seconds before he swerved to avoid another car that had partially turned into his lane of travel on Feb. 14, 2022 in Woodbridge, Ashworth said.

He struck the vehicle being operated by John Angevine, 82, who was pronounced dead at the scene on Route 1 near Wigglesworth Way, authorities said. Two other vehicles were also involved in the accident.

The jury on May 24, 2023 deliberated for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes before returning their guilty verdicts. The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys Sarah Sami and Iram Ashraf.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 7.
