Arsonist Apprehended For Memorial Day Car Fire That Injured Four In DC, Officials Say

One man suffered critical injuries and three others were injured after a woman allegedly set a car on fire in Southeast DC late on Memorial Day, officials say.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 29, DC Fire and EMS personnel were called to the 3900 block of 4th Street SE, where there was a reported vehicle fire with four people inside.

Officials said that the fire was quickly extinguished, though one man suffered critical injuries, while a woman suffered "serious, but non-life-threatening injuries." Two children also reportedly suffered minor injuries.

One woman - whose name has not been released - was taken into custody for allegedly setting the fire intentionally. Possible charges have not been announced.
