This comes as a string of wet weather is expected to impact the region throughout the weekend with the potential of severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, strong winds large hail and tornadoes, the NWS said.
The watch applies to multiple Maryland counties while various watches and warnings have also been issued throughout Virginia.
The biggest change for severe weather will be during the afternoon and evening. Updates on the weather will routinely be provided by the NWS throughout the day.
