On August 26, at around 1:30 p.m., officers arrived to a parking lot in the 300 Block of Oyster Point Road, where they found Crystal Mittelstadter, 51, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Newport News Police Department.

Mittelstadter was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported.

Law enforcement's initial investigation revealed that the incident actually began during a road rage incident between Mittlestadter and the suspect, officials said.

Witnesses and camera footage led authorities to identify 22-year-old As-Siddiq Abdul-Aziz of Norfolk as the suspect, police said.

Abdul-Aziz was taken into custody and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felon, officials reported.
