Marco Williams, 46, of Alexandria, is facing a stack of charges, including attempted first-degree murder, assault, and firearm offenses following the incident last week, investigators announced on Thursday, April 10.
Troopers said it happened around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, along Route 5 near Birtchill Road in Prince George’s County.
The victim, who was not hurt, told troopers that the driver of a black 2023 Ford Explorer with Michigan tags pulled up and started shooting at him.
That driver was later identified as Williams, who fled the area, but didn’t get far, officials said.
On Wednesday, April 9, officers from a United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Maryland State Apprehension Team tracked Williams down in Fairfax County and arrested him without incident.
He’s now waiting to be extradited back to Maryland, where he may face additional charges.
Investigators served search warrants at Williams’ apartment and a vehicle he had access to, where they recovered two loaded guns and a large stash of drugs, Maryland State Police said.
Troopers were assisted by the Fairfax County Police Department and Virginia State Police.
The investigation is ongoing.
