The woman was found suffering from gunshot wounds in a car on Bronson Court and Brickwood Drive in Woodbridge on Feb. 2 around 2:05 a.m., county police said.
A small mixed breed dog was found unharmed in the car and turned over to Animal Control Officers.
The victim's identity will be released pending next-of-kin notification. Detectives are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting.
