The fatal collision occurred on Nov. 9 at the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place, where the teen was reportedly speeding in a Toyota Camry when he struck an Acura attempting to turn left into a shopping center.

The crash claimed the life of Brenda Cratty, 77, of Vienna, who was a passenger in the Acura. She was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Following the crash, the teen was also treated and evaluated for injuries considered to be non-life-threatening at the hospital and was later released.

After weeks of investigation, the teen turned himself in on Thursday, Dec. 12, where he was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving.

He is being held at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
