Traffic Backed Up Approximately Seven Miles On I-81 During Afternoon Commute In Virginia The afternoon commute was rough for some drivers on I-81 in Virginia who had to contend with lengthy delays on Thursday afternoon. An alert was issued by the Virginia Department of Transportation shortly before 5 p.m. when there was a multi-vehicle crash that backed up traffic for miles in the northbound lanes of the interstate.
