A search is under way for a Virginia Tech student missing since last week. Johnny Roop, 20, was last seen at his apartment complex on Canyon Ridge Road in the Merrimac area of Montgomery County on Friday, Feb. 16, Virginia Tech said. His phone pinged near the New River Valley Mall at 4:26 p.m. later that same day. Johnny was traveling to his parents' home in Abingdon, to take an online exam by 5 p.m. but never showed up, the school said. Wife ID'd After Hunting Club Dismemberment In GA, Husband Arrested In PA
Mindi Mebane Kassotis has been identified months after she was found dismembered at a hunting club in Georgia, and her husband has been arrested in Pennsylvania, authorities announced on Friday, May 12, 2023. The 40-year-old was found strewn across three miles of the hunting club grounds in Liberty and Mcintosh Counties on December 2, 2022, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation explained in the release. Tributes and condolences are flooding in after the unexpected death of former volunteer firefighter and devoted Virginia dad of two Michael Gregg Broaddus on Thursday, April 6. He was 60. Described as “a man of Sparta,” Michael graduated from Virginia Tech and worked as an Extension Agent with the Virginia Cooperative Extension, his obituary says.
